Here are my goodies I received from Michelle in Utah last week...
Beautiful ribbon journal, lovely pink candles, a darling pink flower clip, a pink bowl that's perched in my office, and raspberry dark chocolates.
Here's Michelle's blog if you want to read about her list of to-dos:)

And oddly enough...our two packages were both themed in PINK!
This is what I sent to Utah for Michelle.

Iowa City...sigh...I miss you.
In my obsessive wikiquote searches I came across Nile Kinnick...
I have been reading through the words taken from letters he wrote to family and friends and found these lovely words:
"I am so glad you could speak enthusiastically of your visit to Iowa City. That little town means so much to me...It is almost like home. I love the people, the campus, the trees, everything about it. And it is beautiful in the spring...And I hope you strolled off across the golf course just at twilight and felt the peace and quiet of an Iowa evening, just as I used to do." Letter to friend Celia Peairs (May 31, 1943)
I couldn't say it better. I miss our times together in Iowa City.

I just love this page. I spend time (technically way too much time) clicking "Random Page" to see what fantastic bits of literary history, pop culture, or weirdness come up on screen.
Favorite random page to date: "middle name"

Another rainy day...this one's Wednesday.
So this morning I woke up to more rain. And puddles. Occasionally rain is great...on those days where you can stay at home in bed and watch amelie all day and eat lots of chips. Then you can pop in some sex and the city on dvd, take a few naps and perhaps send a few letters.
Unfortunately today is not one of those days. It's just rainy.
Here's another picture. Of my office. Where I spend the majority of my time.

As I said...another post.
Still struggling to concentrate.
Check out my new ring...looking blurry next to my statistical reports, daily planner and fingers that, althought you may not believe it from this photo, are average sized.
What a Pear. Seriously.
I'm terribly (actually a little bit over-the-top) excited about this postcard I drew on Friday. Something about the green and the brown (made through expert layering of purple and orange highlighters) looks crisp and fresh and somewhat dirty...just like a real-non-highlighter-drawn pear. Today is such a gloomy, stressful day. I am struggling to focus on the oodles of work I have on my desk. I did bring my green (a green similar to that of this dotted pear) umbrella to use as I walk to lunch. That should be nice.
Lots of rambling today...expect another post this afternoon.

Happy Monday!
What a wonderful weekend. I spent Saturday and Sunday with my mom enjoying the nice Des Moines hotness and exploring the city. We had dinner together, lots of great conversation and a lot of fun momandlaura time.
I have dropped my swap package off at the post office...can't wait to have Michelle (in UTAH) receive it:)

We said hello to Boston...and the nor'easter.
Whew. After a nice trip visiting Gared, Melissa and their Boston friends...it's great to be home.
Although Boston was plagued with terrible weather, we were still able to experience the city with our friends. Harvard, Newbury Street, the Commons, delicious Brazilian food and singing, a visit to the North End for authentic Italian, and lots of time with our friends...
Nevertheless, after cancelled flights and chilly rains, it is great to be in 70 degree Iowa.

HOME. Home. home.
it's 7:36am. i can't even get up this early for work.
being 23 is certainly frustrating. i mean, deciding what to do with the rest of your life is one complicated mess. and then you have to work while doing it. and pretend that you are young and carefree. perhaps i'm just too old on the inside. too ready to settle down and be comfortable.
meh.
i'm home.

FRIDAY!
ugh. what a week. i'm way too young for all this stress and these potential health risks.
maybe it is time to (gasp) relax.
